   Kids who watch TV all day are fat and have high blood pressure. Ruthie and Joe are skinny and good-looking and healthy, and have lively imaginations.

   Ruthie and Joe are slim because the both of their parents are.

   I have a younger sister whose middle name is Ruth and she was called “Ruthie” when she was young. But, unlike the classic comic strip characters (these are all reruns), my sister is 3 years and 10 months younger than me.

   Joe in this strip WAS one year older than Ruthie. AND Ruthie was one year older than James, the neighbor boy.
