    no, no, when they used the navel crank to shorten their hair length, they turned the crank too far, once you do that it never comes out again…..it just wads up in your brain pan.

    mfcoace: I’m feeling so old now! In the 70’s, I actually had one of those dolls with the navel-crank to lengthen/shorten its hair.

    My 2-year-old is showing definite signs of becoming a Ruthie. I look forward to hearing her theories!

    The hair actually is pulled out your armpits, and legs, etc. As you grow up. Eventually, it snaps like a rubber band, and your hair recedes into you. That’s my theory.
