They forgot: “Safe” is a euphemism for “not fun.”

Some slide. It hardly even qualifies as a ramp.

The only way you could slide on that, is if it is covered in ice.

My church has safety scissors: they’re made of soft plastic that isn’t hard enough to cut even a sheet of paper. I think the plastic has gotten a papercut, though.

Some years back I was in my old home town, and took my little boy to my old playground, a nice park with all kinds of fun things to do - slides, swings, teeter-totters, those metal merry-go-round things, etc. My son was very excited, hearing about all this “neat stuff” - until we got to the park. All the old “unsafe” things, that we enjoyed so much as children, were gone. All there was now was a small climbing frame made of wood, not very high, of course (I was taller than it) and a big tube to crawl through, about 8 feet long. The kids might not have any fun, but, by God, they were safe - no scraped knees or bloody noses for kids nowadays. Really, really sad. Fear of lawsuits? Media-driven paranoia about the safety of our children? A shame that kids can no longer be kids…. are there good old swimming holes anymore?

It’s still dangerous. if you’re running and not looking where you’re going, you’ll trip and land hard.
