I so relate to this strip, my kids were just like Ruthie and Joe, and they turned out pretty good

I hated going to the grocery store with my mom. She’d never buy the things I wanted and I would get tired and start dragging my feet. She’d tell me to pick up my feet. I really would have rather stayed home.

Yeah. I remember those “no choice” shopping trips.

“Pick up my feet? But then I’d fall over!” Never worked for me, but perhaps worth a try anyhow.

When my kids were too young to be out of my sight in a store, I would put the youngest son in the cart and put the groceries around him. The oldest I would let ride on the front of the cart while I pushed. That kept them from running around, or grabbing things.

Try to let your kids ride on the front of the cart now. The store has a fit!

Probably depends on the location & store manager. I think I still see kids doing that here - although since I shop as much as possible during the daytime, it is just getting the time of year when I see many kids in the stores. (We homeschooled, so my kids were with me almost all of the time.)

I wish I’d thought of that when I was growing up.

I just look at the parents, smile and tell ‘em I left mine home.
