   he was more than a part of hollywood squares (where old stars appeared on tv in their later years) he had his own variety show in the fifties, alternating with Jack Benny, I think…..
   “the Lonesome George Gobel show”
   I think his crewcut was part of the show’s logo

    I remember Gary Moore’s logo on “I’ve Got A Secret” being a crewcut. I saw George
    Gobel at the New York State fair. George always told stories about his wife, “Spooky Old Alice”
