    I think his complaint is that Claire is a girl who can’t do laundry. That’s what irks him. But he also seems to me the kind of man who may not like women that much in general. He loves his mother and his wife, and to a lesser extent, his daughter. But that’s as far as it goes. So then this man is going to have clearly defined gender roles. A woman has to do womanly things and for men, they should only do manly things.
