You CAN be friends with your ‘future food’ as long as you’re clear from the beginning on how the ‘relationship’ is going to end.

(Luigi will be with you always.)

Don’t worry. We’re not that dumb. Take the Paul character here, for instance. In real life a guy like this would be rebelling big time about the distant relationship he has with Claire. If you are a regular reader you will notice they never get within 10 feet of each other. Sure, my parents’ marriage was like this, but that was after many years.

When is Paul going to ask Claire if they can have a “nurturing” relationship where they feel “connected.” A relationship where Claire’s problems are Paul’s problems and Paul’s problems are Claire’s problems. I was just watching a Jill Clayburgh movie from 1980 called “It’s My Turn,” where this idea came up and the Jill Clayburgh character dropped the dude in the end. You almost can’t help but think it’s finally Paul’s turn.

This is especially true after Paul got that “Claire-4-Eva” neck tat.
