It is an important thing to discuss! You sure cant discuss it after the fact!

Claire sure does look like her Mom? Has anyone noticed that her boyfrield looks an awful lot like her Dad?

Not to throw too much cold water, but I don’t think that discussion gets done too often. beforehand, one is worried. And afterward, things just sort of happen on their own.

@Lou, That says more about the style of the cartoonist than actual family resemblance.

While the parents discuss serious matters and Paul is sweating out a career at teaching and studying tough stuff, Claire is busy reaching her peak at a massage parlor.

There’s a lesson from Freud in there somewhere I’m sure.

I think Claire is like her dad. That’s why they’ve clashed in past comics. And then like her dad, she’s got an interest in business. Paul looks like the generic science guy who had a distant mother. But his mother worked and was successful and mostly reasonable. So she kept her feelings in check, and he had some breathing room. Claire’s dad has more of a grumpy, caustic style than Paul, who is more easygoing – a little like Claire’s mom.
