    Take a deep breath, Claire. Dive in. And… fake it with a big smile.

    It’s not important to know the menu, and especially not the wines. The customers won’t even listen to you about that, even if the waitperson does have an opinion. They know what they like, and what they want to eat. Claire just has to keep everything straight in her head – the orders and all. Not everybody can do that. The register will be a problem, though.

    Claire, the food will cover for being clueless. You never know, you may enjoy it.

    Those customers will be like Claire and Paul. These two know what they want, and their head won’t be turned. Claire wants a daffy, smart guy who doesn’t talk much and keeps a respectful distance. Paul wants a chaste young woman without a string of previous boyfriends, and who is also attractive. And you’ve got to wonder how much Paul notices that Claire will be an heiress.

    comicsssfan: Heiress? He owns a car dealership. Do you realize how undependable that is? A couple years ago, we had a major car dealership in our town shut down by the manufacturer even though it was sell cars quite well.

    @hippogriff

    I had a friend who was chasing a girl whose dad owned a car dealership. He took it pretty seriously as a career option, much to the dad’s chagrin.
