Not for me, because I know I don’t belong there.

That is why I check the menu they post outside first. If they don’t have one, I can’t afford it.

Around here $15 to $17 for “a plate of spaghetti” is about what you’d expect, especially if it’s, say, linguini with seafood…. even more in San Francisco.

“Spaghetti and meatballs” is considered rather American, and is served in pizza places and old-fashioned family style restaurants, sometimes as a starter…
but still costs at least 10 or $12.

    California is expensive!

Which is why I don’t get out much.

You’re paying for the ambiance! Here in Nebraska, some stuff is a bit more affordable – like eating steak with a view of the cornfields xD

Here in Texas, a plate of spaghetti costs about nine bucks

I don’t order spaghetti out, mine is better but my steak and sides last night were only $18 in Ohio.

Even at half that I wouldn’t be in there.

The trick is to do all of this for a low price. No one is that impressed when it’s expensive. If the food is great and the price reasonable, then the setting doesn’t have to be posh. The trend now is value.

I can say I know of what Claire speaks. I have been invited into some rich person’s home before… There was some brief chit-chat while looming in the kitchen before quickly being ushered back out. They may have later disinfected the floor where I stood, I’m not sure.
