The step into adulthood is a scary one. So much is new, unfamiliar, frightening, incomprehensible. Claire has just taken this step. She’s moved from her parents’ to her own apartment, to start life as an "adult". Armed with a good heart and an optimistic spirit, her challenge is she still has so much to learn about life: the nuts and bolts of managing a job, a home, how people interact, relationships, planning for her future, and so much more.
We’ve all been through this. In fact we go through it every day. We all know how tough, but also funny, it can be, as we move through life’s situations if we take our knocks with good humor. And we know also how very rewarding it can be when we actually occasionally get things right.

I was married a long time ago to someone who was a snapper fisherman, he was often gone for a week to two weeks at a time. It was always an adjustment each time he came home—and I am sure any service spouse knows whereof Claire speaks.

Paul and Claire are not even married to each other and they are more like apartment mates than in a common law marriage.
