There’s a reason some things are generic - they’re really not the same thing at all, they just smell the same.

Most generic are packaged at the same plants aka same stuff as the expensive stuff. Your paying for the packaging. As a wise customer commented to another prissy one, “What do you think, are the cows stamped premium and generic?”

Made a trip to a canning plant once , after 20 minutes a ball rang and the line stopped and a genric label was put on to replace the name brand one which was running

The trick is that you don’t usually know which name brand factory made the generic, and I like some name brands, but not all. My rule is to at least try the generic once, to see if there is a definite quality difference. Sometimes I’ve put the generic into a name brand container when testing, so that my family doesn’t realize it is the cheaper stuff.

I’ve run into occasions where the store brand is better than the big name label stuff. Sometimes, it isn’t. Facial tissues and toilet paper are two products where I will not compromise comfort for price.
