    Listen to Bill Cosby’s stuff from the 60s. He proved that 50 years ago. I still love the Noah sketches and Chicken Heart! When you remember he started just “winging” 45 min sets to fill in for a comic who didn’t show at the place where he was waiting tables to pay for school, it’s even more impressive.
    “The Giant is home. The Giant has money.”

    I loved that stuff. I was on a deployed navy destroyer at the time, and most of the crew could recite at least the punch lines, and some entire routines.

    Success ruins many people. Thinking back on (recent)history of my family, I’m glad that my dad did not get that Hollywood job he had signed for at the time he and mom were married. (When they arrived out there, merger had occurred 20th Cent + Fox and he returned to IL and family Real Estate business – a relatively sane life).
