    CIOSS: the Otterloop girl from “Below the Beltway.”

    @CIOSS

    The little girl is Alice from Cul-De-Sac, but I can only guess that the bovine is one of the cows in Reality Check.

    The cow is Stan the bull from “The Barn” comic strip. One of my faves!

    The Main guy in the panel is Lee Salem. Mr. Salem is Lee Salem, the head of Universal UClick.

    And he used to be head editor, before John Glynn, and have the final word in launching new strips.

    Coincidentally, Alice Otterloop makes a cameo appearance in today’s Big Nate.

    I vote for Alice from Cul-De-Sac, and a cow for The Far Side.

    Missing from the eye:
    Opus (Bloom County)
    The cat and dog from Get Fuzzy
    Any character from Peanuts.

    With the possible exception of “Cathy,” these are all strips that have gone totally or mostly into reruns. There are no new “For Better or Worse,” “Calvin and Hobbes,” “Far Side,” or “Cul de Sac” strips, and “Doonesbury” is nothing but very old reruns Monday through Saturday.
    These strips are as stale as the “Peanuts” reruns.
