Everyone has a philosophy of life…whether they recognize or acknowledge it or not.

When asked “How you are doing?” I always throw out this curve.
“Not worth a darn, and getting worse every day. Every morning I wake another day older….but that’s better than the alternative!”
Or just say, “It’s another day above ground”. ;-)

@ runar from yesterday: I’m aware of what the “church” taught – and of why so many were burned at the stake or otherwise destroyed physically. People continue to do stupid and cruel things today – both religious and non-religious. Since my take on scripture (and history & culture in general) is not that it is the norm but that it is a record of our struggle to figure out life, I can deal with past stupidity and cruelty. The idea is to learn from these things.

@freeholder from yesterday: Actually, embalming became widespread during the Civil War when families wanted to bring bodies of their fallen home, but it took more than just several days.
