    Well, it does show that there is a fundamental difference between “marriage” (a civil contract between two persons) and “religious union” (a rite within a church, etc.). And thus why all the nonsense about “defending marriage” from gays is, well, utter nonsense.
    It may be time to, once again, separate them.

    And yet, if you tell people they can have one but not the other, watch them loudly insist on having both.
