Reminds me of when my daughter was that age. She had the car with a curfew of midnight.
2:30 am sh rings up:
“I was supposed to be home at midnight, wasn’t I?”
“Yep”
“I am not home yet!”
“Nope”
“And you do not know where to find me!”
“Nope”
“So you can’t do anything about it!”
“Yes, I can. I am going back to sleep.”
I was a while before she was allowed the car again.

My answer my daughter was: “Remember, I know where you live.”

And Dad’s still kicking around to enforce the punishment. Poor thing.

Carol gets off from being grounded? Doesn’t she mean that she gets grounded for a week or only gets grounded for a week?
Or does she mean “Carol wasn’t even grounded for a week?” That’s like she wasn’t punished at all.

She’s been grounded since she got back from Woodstock, which was about 40 years ago

Funny - I just finished watching a Scorcese film about Woodstock. Most cool. Wish I’d been around back then.

Carol’s father initially said “She’s gone!” but when she returned, he replied “I Wondered Where You Be” “I’ve been waitin’ for you.” And “I Find Myself Missing You” when you’re “Rockin’ All Around The World” Carol replied I was “Going Up The Country” where I did the “Woodstock Boogie” to which her father replied “Can’t Turn You Loose ” so I am going to fit you with this “Ball and Chain”
Carol screamed “We’re Not Gonna Take It” right before she ran out the door yelling “I’m Free”. When her father realized she was gone, he kept repeating to himself, I need “Somebody to love” Carol thought “With a little help from my friends” on this “Saturday Afternoon” we’ll get together and listen to some “Rock And Soul Music”
Just then a hippy dude walked into her path and said “Good Morning Little Schoolgirl” “Waiting To Take You Away” to your “Dreams Of Milk And Honey” “I Love You Baby More Than You Ever Know” “You Don’t Have To Cry”“We Can Talk About It Now” but “Don’t Ya Tell Henry”, “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright”
Carol was happily surprised and replied to him “Getting My Heart Back Together Again ” to which his retort was of course you, “Here Comes Your Lover Man” you “Foxy Lady”
But Carol had second thoughts and quickly walked away while calling over her shoulder “I’m Going Home.”

Nighthawks I hope you are kidding- that is an example of ageism at it’s worst.
Do we all go look for an ice flow to die on?

Guilden_NL (Netherlands?)–that was brilliant, unless you took it from somebody else, in which case they’d be brilliant!

As one of the chronologically gifted who has passed the 60 years mark, I can tell Nighthawk that life is much more enjoyable now than it was in any of the angst-ridden earlier years.

Bmonk, thank you for giving us 60+ers something to laugh about.
I concur with with kumera, life is better than it was at the teens and 20 something. Not saying it’s great, just better.

I’ve heard people say they’d rather seek forgiveness than ask permission. Some of them I’d like to toss off a cliff then ask them to forgive me… XD

Danae’s sister needs to be included in the strip more often.

I was surprised Kate went along with Danae on this one.
Children often don’t get the moral you want them to. Or maybe they just like to pretend they don’t. You only hope it’s sinking into their pysche and will be there when they need it.
