A good one was when I lived in Cleveland, everywhere I looked was large and extra-large clothing shops, but to find a bookstore you had to travel halfway across the city.

So profoundly sad,.. but true. As usual Mr. Miller is “right on the money”.

Reality is something cruel and sad, but unfortunately is real…

Tarp fund hoarding - that’s why mom and pop can’t get a new tarp for their canopy that reads:
Mom and Pop’s: better than just Pop’s.
or
Mom and Pop’s:
Fine Purveyors of Canned and Chemically-processed Food -type Entities.
It’s all in the marketing.

So sad. Mom & Pop’s are so much better. They often have items you can’t find anywhere else.

Nelly, Michigan has a Podunk. it’s near Hastings..which is near Kalamazoo, which is south of Grand Rapids…
GrinfilledCelt said, 5 months ago
Is there a WallMart there, Dracip?
It’s so comforting to know that after all the local groceries, hardwares, restaurants, etc have all closed down and no one has a job anymore; the banks will still be there. [/sarcasm]

A very good statement about a very bad state of affairs, Wiley.
Dracip said, 5 months ago
GrinfilledCelt, not yet, believe it or not Podunk is in the middle of nowhere, with very little population. Yeah, I know, give it time. But as it stands, now, the “metropolitan area” of Podunk could fit into a WallMart. BTW, have you met my uncle,
GinfilledCelt?

The US goverment is controlled by BIG business. They are one and the same. The rich continue to get richer and the powerful continue to stay powerful.
US gov = BIG bus
BIG bus = US gov
We have seperation of church & state. We need seperation of capitalism & state.

The reason BK is thriving (and Wal-Mart, for that matter) is no one can afford the pricier restaurants or stores. Those “value menus” aren’t loss leaders any more– more like the whole meal!

Yup…
TARP was a HUGE mistake.
So in 2010, let’s vote out the whole stinking lot of them.
Oh wait….
Was this another of those Blame Bush for what a Democrat Congress did?
Sorry, my bad.
