This is just as good as the repeated reports that there is nothing new to report. After a few days of reporting nothing new, they still insist upon continuing, on-the-scene coverage to report that there is still nothing new. Cutting edge news reporting at its best.

Today’s Special - Pastis Fasul!

About twenty years ago, the amount of reporting exceeded the amount of actual news, and the gap has continued to widen since. Sometimes I think the collapse of Western society can’t come soon enough …

If you think that’s annoying, try living in Oklahoma, during the spring & summer (aka:”Tornado Season”).
And having EVERY program including the weather report interrupted by weather updates!

awesome! I just googled it and see that The Reuben Awards are this weekend, and two of my fave artists are up for “The Reuben”. Stephan Pastis, who does “Pearls Before Swine” and Dan Piraro who does “Bizarro”. The third nominee is Dave Coverly - “Speed Bump” which also a really good strip.

If the Reuben awards were televised, I would watch.
If Wiley could get me a ticket, I would attend.

LordDog, I was raised in OK and it is so true. I live in AL now and it is even worse. With all the new technology, there can be 5 tornados on the ground the the weather guy has the radar zoomed in on someones backyard. “Let’s see what the radar looks like at 12th and Main”. I get all my weather on the internet now because the local is over hyped.

When you see one reporter interviewing another reporter, that story has been exhausted. You might as well go play with the dog or something.

I’m with Wiley on this one. Who cares about sports anyway?
I know this is not very original at this point, but… the “special” really should be the Reuben Sandwich.

Wyley is the best, been reading him for boocoo years.
dtut said, 6 months ago
The Reuben award is not named after the sandwich. :-)
It is named for Rube Goldberg, the engineers’ favorite cartoonist. (I almost said, “Think Escher, without the highbrow implications.”)

When I first tried to read the name of the bar spelled backward on the window, I read it as “Wiley’s.”

The Reuben Awards are today in Hollywood. At midnight Pacific Time, the winners will be announced at this site: http://www.tedgoff.com/ncs_winners/
Past winners: http://www.reuben.org/awards.html
If not televised, then why isn’t this awards ceremony webcast on the Internet? How about it, NCS?

Glad to see Bill Watterson won in ‘86. Rightfully so. Should be Wiley’s turn very very soon.
Glad it’s not televised….imagine a judge asking a cartoonist his opinion on gay marriage, haha.
Richard said, 6 months ago
I think I got “boocoo” from the old Pogo comics. A lotta my stuff comes from Pogo or Brother Dave Gardner.
Dracip said, 6 months ago
Quite frankly, Wiley’s better than all of them put together.

Slight disagreement here - if this universe *really had its priorities straight, the bar would have just finished watching the all-day “pregame” festivities, and red carpet arrivals of the nominated cartoonists and their supermodel significant others.
