    Leonard … Ben Franklin, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson … were all liberals. Political liberalism is the concept that rights are granted by a Constitution.

    GWB stood for undermining your personal freedoms so that the government could wiretap your personal conversations. GWB was for torture, which is a violation of the 6th amendment (not to mention human decency). GWB tried to take over the Louisiana State National Guard after hurricane Katrina, which is a direct attempt at nationalizing state rights, and stands in opposition to federalist principles outlined by our founding fathers. GWB also pushed No Child Left Behind through Congress, then left a $36 billion dollar deficit in federal funding for the program; not only did he saddle states with astronomical funding requirements (and that has far, far, far reaching implications beyond GWB’s 8 years and IS a factor in why many states are in funding crisis now), the educational measure was decidedly anti-federalist: the national government set spending requirements for state spending. In case you are in need of a history lesson (and you are), the biggest issue at the birth of our nation was the battle between the roles of state and federal government.

    So, to recap, revoking Constitutional rights, undermining Constitutional rights, and rewriting the principles of federalism. And I didn’t even touch on the foreign policy blunders that have and will continue to cripple this nation’s sovereignty and future.

    If you want to talk about undermining the principles of our government as outlined by our founding fathers, you need to do some homework. And you need to understand that while you may dislike Obama for many reasons (none of which you have really expanded on), he is attempting to run this country with deference to our core values.

    Anyway, back on topic … your vision of America’s principles is vastly distorted, and you seem to live in a world of idealistic fantasy. Your vision of “small government and low taxes” is antiquated, not historically accurate and does not fit the realities of the 21st century world. Which is more, they rely on altruism of the individual, which is great in theory, but fails in the face of individual greed. A government reliant on individual self-restraint and altruism is doomed to failure. Case in point: Marxism.

He’s campaigned against socialism all his life, supported democratic movements and individual rights from Poland’s Solidarity movement to Georgia’s recent anti-soviet Rose Revolution and is responsible for the fall of socialism in the former Soviet countries.     If I dislike my government, instead of changing it or trying to show others why it’s wrong, I should jump ship? It’s chilling thought processes like these that cause our country so much trouble.

    Also I feel like I should chime in. No comic strip with the term “government conspiracy” is nonpolitical in nature. The cartoon seems to be satirical in nature describing, obviously, the very thing these comments are doing. Being ignorant in regards to politics, blaming others, etc. (The simply irony of not trusting the government by instead blindly trusting a conspiracy theory). However this is indeed political in nature. It’s not talking about politics themselves, but how a lot of people approach politics. Of course this cartoon is going to spark some discussion on this front.

    And Horton Hears a Who has nothing to do with abortion, but it still holds truths and analogies relative to the debate. Art can transcend the purpose that even the artist intended.

    To those of you who hate me for being willing to stand up for the truth and the foundations this country was built upon, well that is your right as well.
    
    It is interesting that soo many people out there seem to have bought into the riduculous report put out by the sham of a dept of homeland security that Obama has put together. If all you progressive thinking liberals are so sure you are right then why are you so threaten by people of opposite opinions that you would label them extremists and domestic terrorists? The truth is you know you are wrong and you are afraid of the day when you will loose your power and order will be restored.
    
    As to George Soros, he tried to buy the presidency when Kerry was running, he succeeded with Obama. Soros’s ultimate goal is to be emperor of the world, he already controls much of the United Nations, by owning the leaders of other countries, now he owns the leader of the US. He is well onhis way to succeeding in becoming emperor.

    jimeguess: The people you speak of each like their OWN representative (they helped elect him/her, after all), but disagree with Congress AS A WHOLE. Even if their representatives are of the majority party, the party might be “too involved with abortion and not concerned enough about the environment” in comparison to the priorities of the district and its representative.

    If Ted Kennedy (to pick a famous member of Congress at random) had to appear on ballots in every state, he’d have probably been kicked out of the Senate years ago.

    Similarly, people who complain about ‘kids these days” generally think their own children or grandchildren are wonderful.

    I don’t hate you, and I have no problem with you expressing your opinion; but you seem to expect us to take your opinions (which sound, to me at least, suspiciously like Republican talking points) as God-given *fact* without anything to back them up. (i.e. Unbiased news sources or historical citations – and, no, Faux News *doesn’t* count!) As the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan observed: “You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts.” Of course, he was a flaming Liberal, so nothing he ever said matters anyway…
