I guess if you look at it the right way, there’s always a reason to be happy. A continued pulse is as good a reason as any.

At the current prices for soy, turkey is cheaper.

Why did the tofurkey cross the road?

Where do they get off charging so much for soy ? Is it the Mercedes Benz of meat substitutes ? I can take it or leave it. Bin leaving it a lot.

Soy is expensive because it usually costs more to produce and turn into products..that is why tofu, soymilk, soy burgers, etc. cost more than their mainstream counterparts.

So much for going GREEN then. I thought Green was supposed to be more efficient and healthy. Does soy meat require as much land or thousands of gallons of water per unit (cattle) and what about the effluent/waste problem ? I don’t see or smell large manure piles at the soy feed lots. How much anti-biotic and hormone injections does it take to raise a soy to maturity ? I think soy would feed more people from the same amount of land as it would take to raise one bovine specimen.

Frankly, my guess would be that the infrastructure and expertise that can produce it inexpensively is not available on the American continent yet. So it’s an import.
Sadly, I believe that if cattle were raised and produced the way God had intended it would be just as healthy as the soy stuff (“Ew,” just my opinion of it). We have the infrastructure. But, sadly, the corporate greed too.

Gweedo Murray,
The problem with soy products is not the cost it is the taste. Have you ever eaten a soy burger or soy milk. DISGUSTING! I cannot believe there are actually people out there that consume that stuff. If you want meat then eat meat do not try to pass off some kind of soy substitute as meat. I would not let that foul stuff passed my lips.
