They could try to help improve the ACA, but instead they’d rather hurt everyone (except themselves) by trying to destroy it and shutting down the government in the process. I’d say a wrecking ball is a pretty accurate image.

    @ConserveGov

Obama gave a great, moving speech yesterday. He had a young woman with a brain tumour who wasn’t able to see a physician. Now, he said, for less than $100 a month she’ll have full access to the best oncologists and hospitals. Plus, since she’s buying insurance from a private insurance company, it’s not going to cost the government one cent, so, even though the government is shut, the tax (as it was ruled by the Supreme Court) in the form of mandatory insurance premiums paid to a private insurance company continues.

I tried to log in to healthcare.gov to see what I’d REALLY have to pay, and what it would REALLY cover, but all I got was ‘Access Denied.’

If Obamacare means that poor, young lady will now be able to purchase insurance from a private company for less than $100 a month, and get full coverage for all the treatments she’ll need for her tumour, and this won’t cost the government anything, how could anyone be against it?

Of course, I have a great deal of difficulty believing Obamacare will really be quite so great.

But the rwnj idea that it’s going to consume more than the entire GDP of the US just to pay for death panels doesn’t sound quite true, either.

And the only answer I got to my question of which version is closest to the TRVTH was ‘Access Denied.’

Not costing a cent? Really? How much do you think it costs to run and operate a computer network (that doesn’t work) for the signups and the administration and the red tape? That’s what make this whole thing stink the most… that we’re letting a government that can’t even pass a budget in 6 years tell us what something is or isn’t going to cost. The idea that the woman with the tumor is going to get insurance for less than $100 a month is laughable. I’m younger and much healthier, but my insurance would cost (thru the Marketplace) over 200% more than what I’m currently paying for independently purchased insurance, which has more benefits. I have an aunt with terminal cancer, and she’ never had insurance, but guess what… she has been and continues to receive treatment thru Medicare. This whole thing is a big ball of stinkin’ poo.

you mean there is something left after the dems got done in first four years of Obama. Sorry it is cheaper to tear down a wrecked building and rebuild than trying to fix one that is ravaged

The 30+ Tea Partyists who were voted into office in 2010 had only one goal in mind – shut down the government. They really didn’t care what the issue was, just shut it down. How many crises did we lurch back and forth from? Seven? Eight? And it’s so disappointing to see folks on these posts who aren’t trolls but easily-manipulated people who echo that twisted logic and hatred.

Perfect editorial cartoon, well done Anderson. I love watching the exploding heads of the tea party haters and reputicans on this forum and elsewhere.

Originally written for Lady MacBeth, but applies to any random teabagger and especially to Cruz:

    Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow,

Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury

    Signifying nothing.

    You must be being sarcastic……

So you believe what Obama puts out there as truth no matter what? I can’t believe THAT.

But let’s say it is true. This young woman NOW gets to have a policy. Yep, preexisting condition doesn’t apply. I suppose her “policy” has absolutely no co-pay or out of pocket expenses either. great. even medicare makes you pay (new rates as of 1/1/14) $6900. out of pocket on certain expenses. So I guess the tumor treatment is no on that list.

So, since the cost of giving the treatment is – let’s say 5K – she pays 100 bucks/mo and nothing else, who is it exactly that you think picks up the other $4900.????

OH that’s right, she is “subsidized” by …..hmmm let me see….. the GOVERNMENT. which means that we the people kick in for all that.

    It is NOT free.

So I MUST think you are being sarcastic…..
