Nick Anderson of the Houston Chronicle is an avowed independent who covers politics and contemporary cultural issues in a way that connects with readers. His loose, idiosyncratic style carries with it an unconventional message that has broad appeal. "I approach my work with a healthy skepticism for the ideological extremists littering our political landscape," explains Anderson.

I have no doubt that we will see a continuing stream of band-aids. The sequestration will, in effect, also be kicked down the road.

Nick missed the liquid permeable satchel of dried, shredded and chopped plant leaves on the end of that string restraining CONgress.

The tea party is sworn to destroy the government of the United States. They’re perfectly happy to go along with this. And now Boehner is pretending that the sequester was an Obama idea! Rather than a Republican idea to avoid the expiration of the Bush tax cuts for the rich.

I was listening to Howard Dean on CNBC this afternoon and I was surprised to hear that his position on sequestration was the same as mine: let it happen. The idea that there will be massive unemployment and economic ruin is overstated. Take the hard medicine and hopefully that will kick congress in the butt to continue the process.
