Nick Anderson of the Houston Chronicle is an avowed independent who covers politics and contemporary cultural issues in a way that connects with readers. His loose, idiosyncratic style carries with it an unconventional message that has broad appeal. "I approach my work with a healthy skepticism for the ideological extremists littering our political landscape," explains Anderson.

apparently Nick Anderson is on the wrong side of history.
Vietnam was an attempt to save Southeast Asians from Communism. Iraq was an attempt to stem the tide of dictatorships supporting terrorists and conducting a shooting war against UN-USA overflights after the Gulf War which Saddam lost.
Choosing Palin, a very popular Governor, was one of McCain’s best ideas. Palin on the ticket got McCain many more votes from conservatives like myself, which saved him from a Landslide Loss.
(a president Palin would have brought the USA out of the recession and businesses not facing the unknown threats of an Obama marxist regime would have created a lot of jobs.
And Americans would not have been forced intoObamacare and its emerging higher costs….IRS 2/1/13 said the average cost for a family of 5 at the lowest Bronze tier will be $20,000 for government’s approved insurance and if a family refuses there will be penalties in leiu of premiums.)

here is a quote from McCain on Iran’s evil dictator saying he wants to be the next Iranian passenger into space…
“Wasn’t he just there last week?”
(Pioneer, the alleged monkey passenger last week)
– Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., on Twitter, referring to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s desire to hop a rocket into space.
Maybe this funny quote will gain McCain some respect?

I wondered what the dustbin of history looks like.
There it is.

Wow! “dt’s” kidneys and bladder must be in bad shape after drinking that much “kool aid” for so long!!
I once respected McCain, even though disagreeing with almost all his actions in the Senate, but letting the GOP birdbrains saddle him with the ultimate birdbrain from Wasilla was just lame.

Come on give the guy a break! That was just temporary dyslexia.
.
They were looking for something to make John McCain look hep. like when John Kerry went sailboarding. That was a little too much for MCC Ain. When an advisor said “How about Sarah Palin”? MCC Ain thought he heard “How about Para Sailin’?” and said “That’ll work!”.
.
BTW, it turn’s out, from looking at his birth certificate that his last name is Ain and MCC was the year he was born!

Iraq was an attempt to stem the tide of dictatorships supporting terrorists

That was version 3.7.5-patchlevel 17, and it still was wrong because Saddam never supported terrorists. But since you know so much you can tell the world where all these Iraqi WMDs are, right? No? Well, until you can explain version 1.0.0.0 you are not allowed to upgrade…

Everyone’s trying desperately to focus attention on McCain when the real story is Hagel himself.
He said so many stupid things the only defense is to deflect attention away from him and make someone else the target.

“Disgusted”, I will completely disagree with you.
Unless McCain is an idiot (and this may be, I do not know), he did not choose Palin; she was chosen by the Republican hierarcy..
Vietnam was one huge mistake, based on ignorance and fear (of communism)..
If our system of capitalism is superior to communism, and I am NOT saying that it is or is NOT, then why did we fear communism so ?
Iraq?
I see NO support of terrorists from Iraq…
In order to combat “terrorism”, one must know the root cause of this…Eliminating the root cause is the correct solution..
The rest of your post is right wing extremist trash.

HAHAHAHAHA! I started to write out a detailed breakdown of how little sense you made, but there’s really no point…well, maybe just a little…
Iraq was the only SECULAR dictatorship and a former ally we used against Iran; they had nothing to do with 9/11 and very little with worldwide terrorism, unlike Saudi Arabia, the source of most of the 9/11 terrorists and their money (and Osama Bin Laden), but the Bush family had close ties with the Saudi royals;
Palin never even finished her first term as governor and as Mayor of Wasilla sank it into deep debt — McCain didn’t do his homework on her, as a number of his own staff have admitted;
Calling Obama “Marxist” is like calling Ronald Reagan “Marxist;”
And McCain’s “joke” has already gotten him rebukes from a member of Congress.

Motive, a lovely attempt to enlighten someone so far gone, they can’t even see the bend that they went around decades ago! Reality is not a basis for disgusted’s gestalt.
