Nick Anderson of the Houston Chronicle is an avowed independent who covers politics and contemporary cultural issues in a way that connects with readers. His loose, idiosyncratic style carries with it an unconventional message that has broad appeal. "I approach my work with a healthy skepticism for the ideological extremists littering our political landscape," explains Anderson.

Bloom County/Outland cartoonist Berkley Breathed spent one day as an editorial cartoonist. His cartoon was entitled “Honky Trek: The White Flight,” which dealt with the same subject. Readers were so incensed, a mob of angry white people formed and burned the editor in effigy. Sometimes the truth hurts.

The GOP must regain power to stop this slide. We have GOT to find ourselves more old, angry, white men.

“We have GOT to find ourselves more old, angry, white men.”
To an extent, it can be done. To paraphrase Malvolio (himself an old, angry white man):
Some men are born white.
Some men achieve angryness.
But ultimately, all have oldness thrust upon them.

Did we not fight a war that killed almost as many Americans as all the other wars we have ever fought over this incredible stupidity of leaving the union of the United States( to say nothing of the total evil of men of any color actually owning men of another color)?
And did those “angry white men” of the south, then lose that war so badly the it took them some 50 years or more to even begin to recover.
Do they want truly patriotic Americans to have to do it all over again?
Respectful Troll said, 6 months ago
@Robert Landers
Hello Robert,
Politically speaking, the south had pretty well recovered politically within 12 years of the end of the civil war. Blacks unable to leave slave states were free to leave, but many of them became sharecroppers or otherwise obligated to local white land owners and merchants who often provided lower quality for higher prices. While some blacks served until the early 1880’s, there were very few elected to national office between then and the 1960’s.
And sadly, there are some extremists who do, as you ask have to do it again…and they say it is patriotic to do so. I don’t see it.
Respectfully,
C.

Petition on FB claims to have 100K signatures to POTUS for secession of TX. My comment was: “100K delusional losers. We fought a war over this. You lost. (signed) GA born former Texican).”
