Nick Anderson of the Houston Chronicle is an avowed independent who covers politics and contemporary cultural issues in a way that connects with readers. His loose, idiosyncratic style carries with it an unconventional message that has broad appeal. "I approach my work with a healthy skepticism for the ideological extremists littering our political landscape," explains Anderson.

Republican plan: If you’re not insured, don’t get sick. If you do get sick, die quickly.

Democrat plan…pretend we have an endless supply of money that can be wasted, while lying to everyone about plan.

We already spend more money on health insurance than any other country – and more per person INCLUDING the uninsured. The new law – though it doesn’t go far enough – will CUT costs. Why not check out the German system which has been around since Otto von Bismark and has provided a top level of health care at a reasonable price. Do you seem them suffering fiscally? Do you see them losing jobs because of it? Do you see them whining?

Anyone remember who first required this very, very basic and expensive form of national healthcare and made it obligatory by law? Anyone?
Try Ronald Reagan.

Strange that because progressive programs cost money, some people immediately think they are bad. Of course programs cost money. You add 30 million more potential patients to the health care system and costs will rise. And it will require more trained doctors and nurses and more hospitals and care facilities built. What, you think your fairy godmother spreads pixie dust?
.
There is nothing new about this. Putting a man on the moon cost money; the Hoover Dam cost money; the Pacific Railroad cost money; likewise building the Erie Canal and a host of other infrastructure projects with government participation cost money. Taxes went up, people and corporations stepped up to the plate, paid them, and the nation was better off and progressed.
.
Why is it so many think something is bad if it costs money? What is happening? Has the nation lost its will to invest in progressive programs and to progress? Is this what happens when you wage continuous war at a cost of trillions and you have nothing to show for it? Have those with capital lost confidence in the country and only want to
safeguard what they have? Is it greed?

You do realize that the congressman you are quoting was removed from office by his constituents, right?
But then your non de plume must be accurate.

@Gypsy8
Hey, you are absolutely correct. It will and does cost money to run any program.
The question today is, why are we entering into a program that is projected to cost trillions fo dollars (and no one knows the true cost until the bill is presented) when we are currently going into debt every year to run the programs already on the books with NO ONE even thinking about trying to reduce that debt?
And the war cry of taxing the rich is ludicrous. It will not work unless you cut spending somewhere else.
When are you guys going to get your head out of your rear?

So, healing the sick and injured is a waste of money? How do you figure?

Looks like the flood of illegals destroying the hospitals required to serve them for free. OTaxCare does nothing for this.

@Sr NONliberal
Exactly how is taking care of another human being, a waste of money?
I believe you are proving braindead08’s point.

Losing the election does not make Alan Grayson wrong. In fact, I believe he was absolutely 100% correct. He was also very forthright, that was more likely why he wasn’t re-elected. Of course, all of the right-wing money spent to replacement was part of the “why” also.

It’s a great plan… until you think about ti.

The leftist dopes are so concerned about the middle class having to “waste tax dollars” on the uninsured they (1) just slammed the middle class with 500 billion in new taxes and (2) still have 11-20 million illegals out there bankrupting hospitals via emergency rooms.
rightisright said, 10 months ago
Maybe the uninsured will now flock to blue states for FREE health care.
