If the Native Americans don’t like it here, they should go back to where they came from.

ODon I am just saying I am filing this strip under the Oh my bought NY with beads. Like the Indians drained the swamp, built on the bed rock under it and then the mean white guy bought the empire state building for a couple of beads. Because everyone knows that those Indians where a peace loving people that lived in harmony wit Nature until we came white man came over and ruined it.
So we must compare this to an illegal waddling over in her 8th month, hiding from the cops, crashing a ER, just to make sure her baby one day may get papers.

The native americans should have had an immigration policy like arizona has.

When white people first invaded the “new” world there were over ten million native americans on the north american continent. By 1900 there were only 250,000. Most got slaughtered or died from diseases brought from europe. The tribes on the islands of the carribean and the gulf of mexico were totally wiped out, that’s total genocide. That was their holocaust.

Jade, it is an interesting article but nothing new and in the end just another opinion by someone unconvinced by the data that is on hand or someone that just supports illegal immigrants for their own reasons. The whole problem with illegal immigration is that we don’t ask and they don’t tell. The recent PEW dump lumped both births to at least one legal parent in with all of the births to no legal parents. This would include unwed mothers with some America or documented jerk that the mother wouldn’t ID so the state could go after some welfare. This doesn’t tell me or anyone else anything as to the magnitude of the problem. The author admitted that some mothers do drop and leave and then offered their own opinion as to the magnitude of the problem. Its bad science and it’s a bad way to administer policy. We might also question as to why a distinction exists between a drop and leave versus a drop and stay. While there is no legal protection from deportation of mothers or fathers of an American born baby the fact on the ground based on numerous resources is that because of costs and priorities no administration actually deports anyone that is a “caregiver” unless there is some bigger crime to be pursued. For a while the threat of prosecution and deportation was used as an inducement to voluntary return but the lawyers and the courts put an end to that.

In my garden I am always fighting weeds. I don’t ask how they got there and as of yet they don’t tell. Some, in controlled situations, are actually beneficial, while others just deprive the garden of valuable and limited resources. Luckily I don’t face any moral dilemmas as to how I dispose of them. If I did then it wouldn’t be long before the garden wasn’t a garden at all. If we would all just step back and look at our garden we would realize that it is not healthy. We have problems in our schools, welfare, jails, and healthcare to name just a few. All have illegal immigrants in common as a problem to some degree but we can’t quite be sure of the magnitude. We are also all savvy enough to know that illegal immigration isn’t the only issue with any of these systems but we know each and everyone is not working for Americans but is considered to be highly attractive to our friends from the south. The illegal immigrants from the south or wherever do not see the decay and unfortunately many Americans do not see the decay either.

We will not tend to our garden. That’s how it got in the mess it is in now. We will leave the weeds and throw water and fertilizer hoping that something will change on its own. The decline and decay is essential to balance the world order. Eventually the decline will put Americans back on a level playing field with the rest of the world’s poor and ignorant and we can stop worrying about things like anchor babies.

    • That sounds like an anti-gay activist. Unconvinced by the data that is on hand and supports unconstitutional laws for their own reasons.
    • That being said, they presented the data. Making up wild statements just because one feels like it and then claiming it as a fact doesn’t make it any more true. Again, there’s a minimum of 10 years before quote-unquote drop-and-leave would be “useful” to someone. The facts simply don’t support the assertion. It’s just more fear-mongering.

If the Caribe had met Columbus with M-16s and attitude, history would have changed. The “Pilgrims” and other British arrivals would have starved (many DID) if not for those “red men” showing them how perfectly comfortable survival for over 10,000 years wasn’t that difficult in this “new world”. Interestingly, their “religious practices” KILLED many of these early settlers, then they (missionaries) figured out how to kill natives around he world with the same actions.

I tend to believe that being born here to LEGAL visitors or residents is the intent of the 14th, even to those captured and brought here against their will. But I also think the words on the Statue of Liberty mean we should look at our immigration laws and policies with regard to those who DO want to live, OR MERELY WORK AS “GUEST WORKERS” here, but have been “shut out” by less tolerant, and practicable policies.

Anchor babies cannot apply to have their parents made citizens until they are 21. This is by far the least efficient way to become a citizen, and almost no one is doing it. It’s completely invented by right-wing commentators to scare people.

Oh no, those were the entitled folks – entitled to take a country away from it’s original settlers (and kill all those originals too while they were at it).
