Got THAT right. Just put in the facts about the Confederacy being founded on slavery (just ask Alexander Stephens), contrast it with Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address, and we’ll accept it. Or compare and contrast the two constitutions. Not hard - the Confederacy basically took the US Constitution and incorporated two things: (1) absolute dominance of the states over the national government, and (2) absolute lawfulness of slavery.

Texas should be allowed, if the Government clears it, to start it’s own country. Then it’s curriculum can be entirely about events that took place in Texas.

Will we have to get a passport to enter Texas?

This why control of the internet and all other information is so important to ‘them’. Today the slaves provide their own transportation while the slave owners hide behind the politicians… who busily enforse that brand on our economic system. We will come to no good end doing this.

instead of getting our country together, we’re pulling further apart.

    good luck, usa !

We could just skip the textbooks and just read the Bible – that’s what the religious right wants.

This country has never been together – we were split at the very beginning and, aside from a momentary unity during World War II, we continue to be split. I may be one of the few Yankees who believes we should have let the south go their own way.

sure cd, but we aren’t split that way

we aren’t really even split red states and blue states

we are split individually which in itself is a form of unity

you can’t blanket texans with all the evil - it’s the few who are in power who are the lunkheads, but what’s different about texas other than it’s bigger

i’m a progressive liberal - for domestic unity and protection, a christian - with huge hope for global unity and peace, a realist - because it’s not about having it all right now (since we just can’t), it’s about the journey - sometimes it goes left, sometimes right, sometimes awry, but an optimistic realist because i’ve got proof that good changes happen. right now there’s a lot to solve.

btw have you noticed the beauty of the earth and the splendor of the skies lately

I am another of those who think we should have let the South go. I really don’t think they would have lasted very long anyway – problem solved, much less bloodshed & devastation. And we wouldn’t still be fighting the same battle 150 years later.
