This cartoon is, I suppose, fairly accurate. The Democrats did just lose two gubernatorial elections, and they are quite upset about it.

It’s a pity Anderson couldn’t find anything to say beyond that.

Wouldn’t consider Virginia as much of a loss.

No, Virginia may not be much of a loss, nor New Jersey for that matter. But they were the only gubernatorial races this year.
Once again the Democrats win big one year and then blow it the next.

NJ wasn’t even much of a loss for the Dems. “Chrissy” is only “fiscally” conservative, so it’ll be like having a typical Godless liberal as governor, only he won’t spend quite as much money, and will try to play a shuck-and-jive game on property taxes (lowering them while approving a million increases in various fees elsewhere, etc).

Sorry, I don’t see any signs that America is going to avoid ancient Rome’s fate. NONE. Zip, zero, zilch, nada.

Wonder if there will still be any book stores left to order a copy of THE RISE, DECLINE AND FALL OF THE AMERICAN EMPIRE once we’re no longer a world power… probably only available in Mandarin.

What, is no one on the right paying attention to their own spin on NY-23?

A loss is really a huge win, because it means next time everyone will have to pull together and try harder!

Hey the “loser” in the NY 23rd was only known about a couple months ago and still was only 4% behind.

“Now they’ll spin this as best they can to save face, rather than learn something from it. ” Sounds apt.

I don’t see how losing 2 iffy Gubernatorial elections but picking up 2 House seats (one in a truly surprising district) is a such a loss for the Ds and a HUGE WIN OMG IT’S AMAZING victory for the Rs.

Stop letting the punditocracy control your heart-rate.

Corzine was dead meat two years ago. One other “loss”. Significant might be winning in a district that hasn’t elected a Democrat in over 100 years. But the whole flap is a fraud, and useless blather. From either side.

Once again Dems claim victory in defeat!

Howgozit – somehow the right wing claims sweeping change in defeat.

“but picking up 2 House seats (one in a truly surprising district)”

Facts: one seat was retained not gained, not picked up, it was already held by a Democrat and the margin was much smaller than November 2008

Upstate NY. In November that Congressional district voted FOR Obama. He polled 55% but in this election in the exact same district the Democrat only got 49%. Republican+ Conservative=51%
