Nick Anderson of the Houston Chronicle is an avowed independent who covers politics and contemporary cultural issues in a way that connects with readers. His loose, idiosyncratic style carries with it an unconventional message that has broad appeal. "I approach my work with a healthy skepticism for the ideological extremists littering our political landscape," explains Anderson.

As long as it works. Sheesh. The man is utterly spineless.

It took you this long to realize that? Why isn’t a man with more spine the majority leader?

Don’t care for Harry or Nancy- Harry is pretty much a Nevada “blue dog” - in order to get elected there. Unfortunately, both parties are in desperate need of some vertebrae. For the record, there is also a difference between bonehead and backbone. Open minded is NOT the same as empty headed. Idiot and ideology aren’t the same, but it’s really hard to tell any more.
After what will be recorded as the worst 8 years in American history, I’m ready for some wisdom AND courage, from both parties.

In all my years of following politics I never before heard ANYONE suggest Harry Reid was anything but a far-left idealogue. Not on MSNBC, not on Fox, not on talk radio, not on Air America, not in print or on air or ANYWHERE.
BLUE DOG????
You’re a nutter, dtroutma. It’s obvious Karl Marx was way too far to the Right for you..

Why are the cartoonist’s lying to us?
motivemagus said, 25 days ago
I have never heard anyone say Reid was anything but a spineless middle-of-the-roader who even chastised his own party members who dared to respond to Republican criticisms. Don’t know where you get your news, scott…

Harry should go on SNL. He could play the ‘husband born without a spine’ and sit curled up in the basket all the time.
I’ll bet he could do some amazing contortion tricks.

I’m not sure I get it. Public support for the public option is nil and has been flat for months. I don’t like Reid one bit, but the one thing you can’t accuse him of, at least with respect to his bait and switch on the public option, is timidity or oversensitivity to public sentiment!

I’m not sure where YOU get YOUR news, motive, but Harry Reid is and has been widely regarded as a left-wing dialogue, and a dishonest one at that. Perhaps that’s why you thought him a middle of the road guy, because he wanted you to.

Harry Reid is going to lose his seat, unless he does the Obamanation voter fraud through acorn, NAACP, black panthers, etc.
dtroutma said, 25 days ago
Harry has long supported “right wing” mining and grazing interests- read corporate and NON-U.S. mining companies. Nevada refused the lands offered it upon entering the union, now that they found minerals, and need for expanding population, they whine about not getting what they didn’t want. That is a distinctly “conservative” reaction, like giving the Indians the worst lands on the continent, then finding oil and gas, and wanting them back.
Yes, motive, it is spineless behavior that is contemptible, like following morons to war, or refusing to prosecute those who lied to the world, and their own nation, for personal power and profit. Courage has nothing to do with ideology, well, except for those who base their ideology on fear, whether religious, economic, or political.

trout–why do you want to prosecute Obama as alluded to in second paragraph?

Salmonidae nailed it H.zit, sorry your boys blew it for 8 years. Reid is a conservative Democrat. The honorable trout trumps your feelings with facts. Tizzo is wrong, there are many in this country who favor a public option including many physicians. See the last few New England Journals for the pertinent details.
