Nick Anderson of the Houston Chronicle is an avowed independent who covers politics and contemporary cultural issues in a way that connects with readers. His loose, idiosyncratic style carries with it an unconventional message that has broad appeal. "I approach my work with a healthy skepticism for the ideological extremists littering our political landscape," explains Anderson.

Defections have been known. Wait for the Cap and Trade bill to get to the floor.

Helloooo! I wonder how many democrats are staining their shorts and panties now. The time to show their TRUE colors has arrived. I’m sure they wished Franken wasn’t elected. Obama will enter a new phase as President, fighting his own legislators. He will realize he is no Superman, just a simple mortal. Heavy stuff will start hitting the fan.

Now you are to blame for everything that goes south from this day forward.

oldlegodad, back off of that assertion. A lot of us think Obama thinks of the country first – long before the selfish moneygrubbers who ran the country previously.

Very little will change until the corrosive effect of mega-money on legislation can somehow be removed from the equation.

DrCanuck, in that regard he is a real humanist, but he has stated that since he is president of this country, that is where his chief responsibility lies. I believe he also wants to be a very positive world leader.

After “Unitary presidency”- meaning Cheney: with Blackwater, Haliburton and KBR, Lockheed (Lynne’s company under the table) , Afghanistan, Iraq, oil futures “postponed”, even trying to imagine ANY administration LESS concerned about the good of the country over personal gain, OR more looking for “kingship” and a dynasty operating freely in a bath of greed is ethically and logically impossible.

Karl Rove was trying to ensure a permanent Republican majority and he played every dirty, divisive trick in the book to get it.

Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater, Cheney, and deadheadzan even includes Karl Rove…Beautiful! I even somewhat agree with your critique. And you included Lockheed! (Their fraud has been mostly under the radar as of late…I guess enough graft got spread to Democratic constituencies up until now…)
