Nick Anderson of the Houston Chronicle is an avowed independent who covers politics and contemporary cultural issues in a way that connects with readers. His loose, idiosyncratic style carries with it an unconventional message that has broad appeal. "I approach my work with a healthy skepticism for the ideological extremists littering our political landscape," explains Anderson.

I’m a lot more offended by the hypocrisy than the acts. With “serial marriage” so common, acceptance outside their party of “sexuality” pretty common, what’s really “outed” is arrogance and stupidity.

Why is it that when it comes to evolution or homosexuality the bible is to be interpreted literally, except when they commit adultery, the punishment for which is stoning?
motivemagus said, 4 months ago
They’ve never quite figured out how you literally believe two completely contradictory Biblical stories of creation, either. (Let alone evolution.)

Why can’t these hypocrites just keep it in their pants?
cdward said, 4 months ago
Or if they can’t keep it in their pants, at least don’t condemn others for the same thing.
motive, for what it’s worth, we were taught in seminary that the two contradictory stories of creation simply represent two competing concepts of the story by two different authors. I’m always amazed by those who insist on taking scripture literally when scripture itself doesn’t insist upon it.

Hey, you forgot the Big One: Ms. Sara Palin!

cdward, of course! That’s the Catholic view as well. I recently read Jesus, Interrupted by Bart Ehrman, and was astonished by a lot of the things in there, which he says are nonetheless totally mainstream theology taught at the vast majority of seminaries – leaving out the evangelical fundamentalists, of course.

yea, I really don’t care what people do with their personal lives… I just can’t stand the hypocrisy.
people shouldn’t be out of politics for cheating on their spouce (unless they’re using taxpayer money to do it), and humping only your wife doesn’t make you any more qualified to be a politician
this nonsense is why single qualified people have a sno-cones chance in hell of ever getting elected higher in anything than their local town

Yes, smell the hypocrisy in the air. I could waste time listing affairs and scandal on the Democrat side of the aisle…but they know what it is better than I do.
Such hypocrites!

Yes, Libs - why is a private matter so important to you?
And Family Values , still the best way to roll. Whether it should be a political platform is up to homosexuals and other lascivious people who continue to make it a societal issue by ramming their kinky lifestyles down other peoples throats….
Also, what about political hypocrisy? Isn’t that more important to not have in our politicians? Examples: War on Terror in sovereign nations- Still going…Guantanamo - still going… corruption at high levels- still going… Dems shutting out debate in Congress- still going (what are they afraid of?)…deficits, over-spending -still going…open borders- still going…illegal aliens still flaunting our sovereign constitutional laws- still going…libs pushing false science- still going… Need more?

HEY FEARFUL, You just cant see that YOU’RE the hypocrite. Like we should stay out of “private matters” then YOU turn around and say “kinky Lifestyles and homosexuals” , which is a private matter. But if you’re the Governor and you cant be found for 7 days, it becomes a public matter. Oh, let’s just forget about it.
I cant count how many times YOU have brought up Bill Clinton, and his past. Want to go back and look ? No I guess not, HYPOCRITE

Boinking a babe in Buenos Aries is a private matter.
As “entertainment of the masses” often passes as news, commercial news outlets overblow these “private matter” failings.
Of course, the very pinnacle of “overblowing” (pun intended) was the congressional Republicans’ impeachment of Bill Clinton.
But as Senor has said, the true public issue is his absence, and the apparent misuse of state funds.
As administrator of a public agency (albeit a small agency), I consider myself always on call. My cell phone goes with me on vacation and days off, in case my staff needs to run something by me.
Sanford’s vanishing act is unacceptable. A Governor’s staff and security detail need to know his whereabouts.
And, by the way, no dipping into the public till for a side trip to the next country over ‘cause your girlfriend is there.

I’m not sure what the source of the running argument is here. Surely neither party condones adultery?
ralphman said, 4 months ago
Kingoswald, you said it 100% correct, but you left out several other more descriptive words I would’ve added..

Tricky: If one party likens itself to that of keeping high morals and family values, it becomes a lot funnier when one of their folks get caught out. Their fanbase then gets riled, defensive and retaliate, dredging up past marital transgressions of their rivals, because “so there!” is a great argument. :-|
Ho-hum, if only Zuma had ran for prez in the US. That would have been fun.
Liberty_Mill said, 4 months ago
Pickle: maybe both parties condone adultery and just love it when the other side gets caught. pointing fingers about these kinds of indiscretions helps justify the massive failure of the government to seriously and consistently address the real problems facing us - infrastructure modernization, health care, privacy, international discord, climate change, etc etc

Gee, boinking a babe down in the Caribean wasn’t a private matter when Gary Hart did it – end of political career for him.
