Anandy- it is exhausting but also amazing how easily you are fooled.

Yes Obama’s budget deficit is triple that of Bush, but only because Bush never budgeted for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and paid for them later in “emergency” spending bills.

Bush still ran the same deficit, just not in his budget numbers. This resulted in 5-6T in debt.

Dems triple the deficit? Carter cut it in half. Clinton wiped it out all together. And as CJKinsey pointed out, most of the recent rise is because Obama is more honest than Dubya was.

This is why Republicans are so free about handing out no-oversight contracts, tax cuts and loopholes to their buddies. They trash the economy every time, because they know they can count on Dems to clean up their mess.

The data are against you, ANandy. And even a significant chunk of Obama’s budget was required by Bush’s leftover debt and two failing wars, not to mention the no-strings bank bailout.

The best arrangement was when Clinton was president and the Republicans were in charge of Congress. We had balanced budgets and peace.

It seems when one party - whether the Dems or Republicans - own both the Presidency and Congress they run amok paying off their special interests.

    Sigh

The non partisan CBO wrote a report as Bush was leaving office that his deficit was $1.1T. In May they wrote that the Obama budget had a deficit of $1.86T. In addition much of the Bush spending in November/December was made in cooperation with Obama.

That does NOT count Obama’s proposed health care expenditures. It does not count his environment expenditures.

Your logic compares to excusing the baseball players who used anabolic steroids to Babe Ruth and his alcohol consumption. They both did it.

The other “Republican” secret since Reagan is just don’t list most of your spending in the budget, like the “black box” (secret) portion of “defense” that basically doubles, or even triples, the actual amount being spent-mostly to contractors. Andy and Howies reliance on “Limbaughnomics” is a hopeless mystery math.

lalas–it was Congress, not Clinton that balanced the budget. No weeping necessary

Andy, The Republicans turned a ‘Projected’ Surplus into a realized deficit in just one Month in 2001, Yet you are okay with this action.
Andy, you are messed up. You cried when anyone criticized Bush about anything, now you call Obama Bozo. Wow! You are a Hypocrite to the Max.

True point Madman Reagan was kept in Check by a Democrat Controlled Congress.

That’s funny, I remember eight years of jackasses whining about Republican deficits. Talk about double standards …

  22. Copperdomebodhi

    Copperdomebodhi said, 5 months ago

    Nomad: No double-standard here.

Basic economics says you cut the deficit in good times. That way, you have breathing room in bad times to boost the economy with extra spending. When things were better, the Republicans rammed the deficit as high as they could. They called it the “starve the beast” plan. (“I need to lose weight, so I’m going to stuff myself with pizza and burgers until I just have to go on a diet!”)

Now that the whole deregulatory house-of-cards has crumbled, Obama can pay off higher deficits later, or he can let the economy go down the toilet. He’s being much more honest about it than Bush and Cheney ever were.
