Nobody will play Scrabble with me! I don’t use internet spellings but I do use words that are only found in the unabridged dictionary (the word “quixotic” is a fun and easy way to get rid of a “q” and an “x” and rack up lots of points at the same time).

So trying to find someone to play Scrabble with is like tilting at windmills?

Why do I always get the scrabble tiles that spell out filthy words?

ej, “quixotic” is good (i.e., allowed) in Scrabble. It’s very, very difficult to get, as you need at least one of the letters already on the board. Supposedly, the wife of the guy who invented the game played it, and he never played against her again. So I’ve read, anyway.
No one in my family will play with me, either, even when I offer to spot them 100 points. Maybe the fact that I read books about Scrabble has something to do with it…
If you want to see a movie with a Scrabble scene, rent “Snowcake.” The main characters play only made-up words that are or could be found in comic books.
(and DocToon – if you play competitive Scrabble, you use a completely different set of words than in the Official Scrabble Player’s Dictionary; all the dirty words are good.)

Shouldn’t it be ROTFL? Rolling on the floor laughing?
