    “Can I borrow a quarter so I can pay you back what I owe?”

    You have to have money to make money, Sluggo, and sometimes that money has to be borrowed or at least worked off. One would think Sluggo is related to Snuffy Smith.
    I had a coworker tell me that for his 13th birthday his dad gave him a lawnmower and stopped his allowance. He was one of the most dedicated workers ever in our office, and he did promote to a different department.

    Certainly you can borrow my lawn mower…as long as it doesn’t leave my yard.

    @Nermal M

    When I was a kid my dad told me that I was going to mow the lawn and he would give me a nickel for the front and a dime for the back. When I told him that the front was actually more work, he said OK, then you’ll get a dime for the front and a nickel for the back.

    If he worked on Wall Street, either he’d demand a riding mower and a gas credit card, or he’d hire an intern and pay him 25% of what he took in, less expenses and fees.

    He reminds of J. Wellington Wimpy who says, “I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a Hamburger today”.
