    After this winter, more like hell. We’re expecting our 15th snow or ice storm on Sunday night into Monday here in central Pennsylvania.

    Definitely a matter of perspective. I remember my 9 1/2 hour commute on Atlanta’s interstates a few weeks ago.

    Winter is great when you’re a kid — then you get your first driver’s license… then you get a job where you have to be at work before the road crews wake up… then you get a freakishly cold or snowy winter coming at you repeatedly (like this one)…

    When I retired back in ‘95 (I was stationed in New Jersey), a fellow retiree told me he was going to tie a snow shovel to the front of his vehicle and drive south on I 95, stopping every couple of hours or so.

    When somebody asked him, "What’s that on the front of your car?", THAT’S where he said he was going to buy a house and live there forever.

    I told him to settle before he reached Florida. It’s full of
    ‘expatriated snowbirds’.

    Yes that’s how you think when you’re a kid. And if you’re a girl you keep thinking that way until you start to work.

    @Nun'Ya Bidness

    Great story.

    Somebody’s going to ask this sooner or later, so it might as well be me:

    Was this fellow’s name Ulysses?

    There, now that that’s out of the way, we can get on with our lives.

    I remember loving snow when I was a kid 50 years ago. Here in Western New York we just celebrated over 100 inches of snow this season. Horrible winter. Spring will be here in 3 weeks, but probably only on the calendar.

    Mine was 12 1/2; but I’m not complaining. Some friends who were right behind me on Holcomb Bridge spent the night in the fire station.

    Try living in 90 degree temperature and 100% humidity in the summer and see what you think about snow.
