    Wonderful quote!
BTW, Guy, do you have someone who do sign language for this strip? ;^)

Mom taught me don’t touch the wings of a butterfly
because I would rub off the powder
and it wouldn’t be able to fly.
Then she killed the butterfly because it would suffer and die.
Fritzie taught Nancy the same thing,
but to nurse the butterfly after touching its wing.

Something that those who say they admire Mandela almost always demand for themselves but refuse to extend to others.

Sounds like a Pibgorn weekend comment. Respecting others freedoms means that they should also respect yours.

I wish Mandela had lived by that mantra.

“And sometimes, this means that you must rescue the bird from the house cat.”
Once, my dog captured and injured a young squirrel. She had the squirrel under our little boat about 30 feet from the trunk of the tree the little squirrel’s family lived. Every so often, she’d pat the squirrel so it would hollar. Then the family would get all excited and almost fall off the branch closest to their little one. Then my girl would get ready to catch another squirrel, should one get close enough.
I couldn’t rescue the squirrel: if I tried to pick it up, my dog would snatch it away and run off with it.
    I had to …
    get this, now, …
rescue the dog from the squirrel.
I couldn’t pick up the squirrel, so I picked up my dog and brought her into the house. Squirrel’s family got the little one back safely in the tree and I had to give my dog real meat to distract her from what was going on out side.
