Nancy was created by Ernie Bushmiller in the 1930s. Since 1995, the strip has been drawn and written in Bushmiller's classic style by Guy and Brad Gilchrist. Nancy is famed for its gentle humor and surrealistic sight gags. Nancy's childlike innocence never wavers. She remains a devoted friend to her pal Sluggo, and can be, depending on the situation, a conceited prima donna or a fun-loving, cute and cheeky little girl.

I wanna meet Fritzi! Are there any more like her out there? A true tender heart.

Today’s strip might be construed as a comment on Hurricane Sandy.
Is that true, Guy?

I’ve never seen a piggy bank that you have to break to open. Every piggy bank that I’ve ever had was equipped with a plug in the bottom so you could empty it without breakage.

Over the years, there were two episodes of the Andy Griffith show with a similiar theme, where Opie was secretly doing something for charity, which Andy thought at first was for his own selfish interests. Those were very touching, and so is this comic strip!

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! To you too Brad and Guy! This comic strip goes on the “To Be Thankful For” list.

Thank you, Gilchrists. I am 76 and Nancy has been my favorite since I was 3. Taught myself to read because I was impatient for my Dad to get done with supper and read me the funnies. You are doing Ernie Bushmiller’s ideals proud, and keeping Nancy the same darling she was as my first imaginary girl friend.

Our family has had several – they are for saving, not spending. But with perseverance, creativity and a lot of work it is possible to get the coins out.

Now this is a very good comic today. Being Selfless. Not that easy.
