Nancy was created by Ernie Bushmiller in the 1930s. Since 1995, the strip has been drawn and written in Bushmiller's classic style by Guy and Brad Gilchrist. Nancy is famed for its gentle humor and surrealistic sight gags. Nancy's childlike innocence never wavers. She remains a devoted friend to her pal Sluggo, and can be, depending on the situation, a conceited prima donna or a fun-loving, cute and cheeky little girl.

New character?

My buddy’s wife kept their ancient dog alive even though it needed two shots of medicine from a needle daily, was blind and deaf and had to be carried around on a big pillow outside to do his business. And get this, my buddy was allergic to the thing! When the dog mercifully, finally went, she wanted to go the pound that day to get another dog and he said if she did he wanted a divorce. Anybody got a story to top that?

Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention the insane vet bills she piled up month after month on her credit cards keeping the poor thing alive.

Buzza Wuzza – Your story sounds like my sister. One dog had kidney failure, she racked up thousands of dollars in vet bills and meds. Another dog had diabetes, more vet bills and meds. Shame, but they are her best friends.

PC jumped the shark back in the ‘90s. I’m certain it’s in the DMS-V with a hard to pronounce Latin name.

All this week we’ll be paying tribute to Ernie Bushmiller with some "Here comes…( that new kid)…jokes! Love Ernie and how he’d think of anything for a gag!

But when they wag their tails when they see you coming and let you know that you are the most wonderful person in the world to them, it’s all worth it.

Can’t top that, but last year we had to have our dog put down, she was 16. We didn’t want to do it,but she was going blind and having spasms and just no life.
We had to decide, were we keeping her alive for her or for US. Sadly we came to a decision. She was real limp the last few days.
On the way to the vet, we stopped and got her some Chicken McNuggets, which was one of her favorites. She could barely eat them, but seemed to enjoy it.
Don’t think us heartless, my wife and I both cried for her. We got a puppy about six months before. Not a replacement, but it did help to have someone to come home to.

Of course you are not heartless. You made a resposible decision for your dog even though it was hard. Much better than forcing her to drag out her last few weeks or months in pain.
