Nancy was created by Ernie Bushmiller in the 1930s. Since 1995, the strip has been drawn and written in Bushmiller's classic style by Guy and Brad Gilchrist. Nancy is famed for its gentle humor and surrealistic sight gags. Nancy's childlike innocence never wavers. She remains a devoted friend to her pal Sluggo, and can be, depending on the situation, a conceited prima donna or a fun-loving, cute and cheeky little girl.

Makes me think of Calvin’s club GROSS (Get Rid Of Slimy girlS).
Only Calvin and Hobbes are members.
Just like only Nancy and Sluggo will be members of this club.

Nancy looks like she is ready to put Sluggo on double secret probation.

Ok, that’s a good start, Sluggo, my boy!
Let’s find us some tossed out planks and make a ‘lean-to’, cover it with some tar paper or a piece of clear plastic drop cloth. Then you’ll have the perfect secret clubhouse!

Gee, when we were kids our club meetings were in the basement at the home of 1 of the guys.

You just figured out where it’s going to be: at the mission basement since Sluggo and Nancy are in with the good Minister!!!

Uh, oh. Sluggo forgot to put signs on the other side of the trees. They’ll have to be on guard.

Guy how in the heck do you tap into this font of childhood?
Secret clubs were usually so secret only you and your best freind knew about it…and your mom of course. You were so excited about it you HAD to tell her!.
I remember me and a buddy down the street getting identical rings from the bubble gum machine, forming a club and building a blanket club house.
Good times in simpler days.

I have been reading the Nancy strip from 1946 to 1947 that was purchased on-line, where Sluggo used a lot of speech associated with New York/Brooklyn such as did, dat, goil, thoid base etc.
Probably would not play well today, but good to see Guy Gilchrist not trying to copy Bushmiller as those who have tried to copy the greats, have only resulted in a subpar comic strip.
Instead, Nancy today has a feel good mentality to it that sets it apart from Bushmiller, but is a classic in its own way.
