Welcome to the MythTickle plane of 'reality', where eclectically charming deities and legendary creatures try to get along and hopefully bring some comfort to the world, whatever you may believe in. There's good ol' Boody the dragon, the ultimate upbeat innocent and Sir Dudley, the cynical Scots knight who disdains him for being his best friend. There's Dziva, African creatrix and goddess of life; Anansi, the trickster spider god; Thor, the surly son of Asgard; and of course Karma quick to rage, quick to joy, and obsessed with balance. Displaced in time and place, they and many others learn from Ms. Nature, patient teacher of this unruly horde. Loki, take your seat. Shiva, go stand outside. Anubis, don't throw the erasers, and everyone mind the holy bees! You never know who you'll meet in Mythtickle.

Good morning.

…I love good one-liners.

Great one liners and it all comes from the myths itself. If you ever saw the cartoon “Tutenstein” it is steeped in Egyptian folklore and myth.

Justin, any news on the blog? Had to delete my history, and was wondering if you’ve posted an new update re: the bee’s knees?

I’m still struggling with the blog. I never know what to write. If I get on a disruptive jag, or something political riles my chakras, I could write about that but judging from what I often get on this forum here, I’d only piss people off. If I write the mundane, or whatever book or music I am currently “into”, it seems like it would be trite and uninteresting to you, gentle reader. I don’t want to bore you and I really don’t want to anger you.
So that leaves me with nothing.
Unless you people can give me an idea of what you’d like to read? That’d really help.

As GoldenRoya says – background on the myths, your sources, your interpretation, your favorites – but also background on you – how you got interested in mythology, how did/does it affect you, what do you hope/wish to covey by the use of mythology in your strips.
For me, I would like to see blog content in three specific areas:
- Factual info – The myths themselves, across cultures, geographies, time
- Process info – How/what is your creative process (both mechanical and mental), story lines, inspiration, influences.
- Personal info – What makes you tick – your interests, your goals, dreams, family, musings – there is a lot more to opinions and thoughts than just politics.

I was a Dungeon Master playing Dungeons & Dragons way back in the 80s and I got real interested into the Mythos because of it. Since I’m of Swedish/Norwegian blood with a little bit of Prussian,Bavarian,Bohemian thrown in I got real heavy into all of those in the Deities & Demi-Gods TSR book thanks to Gary Gygax.I pretty much stuck with the Norwegian Mythos but threw in the Menibonean or Cthuku Gods on occasion (I love the Authors of those books). And the Greek or American Indian Gods were good to work with on the games I had to write then play because the players asked for a change every now and then.Try looking in on those & see what you can find that might inspire you to come up with something of interest.

Do you mean Cthulhu etc? All the stuff from Lovecraft, Clark A. Smith & Robert E. Howard.
