@ Neo Stryder: Ed Wood did not plan to fail. Say what you will about his films, Ed Wood’s primary “problem” was that he made them on his terms outside of the then-current “Studio System” (in which the major studios owned/controlled pretty much ALL of the steps in the film distribution chain) and could never get proper funding for any of his projects — which meant that he had to scrape the bottom of the barrel, resource-wise, in order to get them made.
