    Nice reference to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

    Talking about McGuffin, What the company does?

    @Neo Stryder

    Exactly. Hitchcock referred to a McGuffin as an Object or something that everybody wanted. The fact that everyone wanted it was more important than what it actually was.

    And I still think ‘Ferris’ had about the best after the credits gag ever.

    You’re right. It’s the Breakfast Club. It was a tribute to the director(?) who died about the time this was first run.

    If Max lived at the office, he’d be…home alone.

    We don’t really know what they do. The fact they are at The Office, doing stuff, interacting with co-workers is the focus of the strip. Unlike some other strips, like The Big Picture, where is it made clear he is a cartoonist.

    But that makes me question, if they hate it, why do they do it then?

    Because they need jobs. It’s all there in the letter.

    Sadly a lot of people have jobs they hate but are glad to have. Others don’t have jobs and will take anything, while some are holding out for the job of their dreams to fall in their laps and are glad for the checks to come in the mail.
