   The day may yet come when an Oscar is won for a film that horrific. Since I don’t follow the Oscars anymore, it may have happened already without my knowing it.

   “The Silence of the Lambs” swept the five major Oscars (picture, actor, actress, director, screenplay). One of only three films to do so. The other two were “It Happened One Night” and “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”.

   Now why did Norman stop showering. If they are that close it shouldn’t matter and what could she see anyway? It must be the limits on what you can show or imply.

   None of those are considered to be in the horror genre. Alain Harper is correct no Horror film has won the Oscar for best picture. However several have won other Oscars.

   Well, it may not be horror by today’s torture-porn standards, but for it’s time, “Silence” was pretty horrific. Also, a brilliant piece of film making.

   It was like that weird time when the “X” rated “Midnight Cowboy” won some Oscars.
