    I am guessing the thirties – only during the 30s would housewives have listened to a stranger who came to the door, peddling strawberries. That is a pretty big box of strawberries for only a quarter! Jeff – come to my house! I will take your box of strawberries for only a quarter!

    The Spanish language version of yesterday’s strip was different from the English version.

    I’ll bet it he brought a mess of fish, she’d expect them to be cleaned. Beggars can’t be choosers.

    @SUSAN NEWMAN

    I remember going to the movies on a Saturday afternoon for a dime, with a nickel for candy. A continuous running show with a newsreel, the main movie, the second movie, usually a cowboy story, and a cartoon.

    Now, it’s a bazillion trailers, and 1 movie, maybe about $10. depending on where you live. And not even a cartoon. What a rip off.

    Actually , the lowest standard-style comic book is now $2.99 and here , in coastal/Northern California , a standard-priced movie is more like $10.50-$11.50 !!!!!!!!!:—
