    Cafeterias were the in thing
    Nickels for sandwiches would bring
    You a vast amount
    More than you could count
Of food fit for a King

Colt: According to Wikipedia, it was the rise of fast food that did them in.

Growing up in Philly where H&H started, I have fond memories of the Automats. Considering the surly or incompetent service too common at fast food eateries, there’s a real advantage to just getting your food from a little box.
