Monty is enjoying this far too much. I, however, really do not like ants. Or >shudder< spiders.

    Wait… wait!
    Just a darn minute here….
yesterday EB said the detainee was a foreign ant…

And today, they expect it to to understand English??

it has the right to call its consulate, and be provided with an interpreter…

This is just not realistic! Sheesh….

I remember watching a series of documentaries back in the 60s that shows all life forms (including Vulcans, Romulans and Klingons) not only speak perfect English, they don’t even have a foreign accent.

That’s because of the usage of Universal Translators.
The last Star Trek series (“Enterprise”), did not have this technology because it was set before the time of Kirk and Spock, so they had a female translator called Hoshi.
Doctor Who has a field generated by the Tardis that does the same thing.
Too fantastic to accept? I’m typing this on my mobile communicator, which is way more sophisticated than what Captain Kirk used, and has access to more computer data than Spock had.

Wouldn’t an ant from England be a English-speaking foreign ant?

I hope they don’t use google translate.

The ant (in antish) :I’ll tell you where my allies are.
But put that magnifying glass away.

Google translation: I’ll tell you where to put that magnifying glass. In your butt.
