Jim Meddick is a former political cartoonist, a work he began a short time after graduating from the Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., in 1983. While he was in the university, he won the Student Cartoonists Contest of the Chicago Tribune with his strip “Paperback Writer”.

Even the sometimes odd colors or macabre detail of some MesoAmerican art can’t begin to match the weirdness factor of Moondog after that little spiel by the docent about Vincent. As others have noted, this is definitely a winning strip!

Vince might have had Meniere’s disease. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t crazy. Most people with Meniere’s disease do not cut their ear off. Plus, any sane person would figure out the problem is deeper than the pinna. If he was tryingto stop fullness or ringing he probably would have stuck something in his ear, not chopped off the pinna
