   BTW, palm trees have to be the most useless trees in the world…They grow where the sun tries to kill you, but they give no shade at all? What good are they? They are ugly too…

   And if you own palm trees you have to trim them a couple of times a year or pay someone to do it.
   The fruit attracts nutria and rats and a woodpecker can kill a palm tree in a few years.

    The presence of palm trees reassures you that you’re not in New Jersey, where Monty and Moondog live. Where I lived before I came to Florida.

    May 22, 2011, Joplin, Missouri. The day after the big tornado hit town, it rained like hell, and I was stuck inside my room at the Hilton with no TV. Eventually I got so bored that I put on my raincoat and went for a long walk. When I got back that evening, I was completely drenched (I’ve never seen it rain so hard before), but felt refreshed. And the TV was working again …. Next day I drove to the airport and caught a flight back home.
