Jim Meddick is a former political cartoonist, a work he began a short time after graduating from the Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., in 1983. While he was in the university, he won the Student Cartoonists Contest of the Chicago Tribune with his strip “Paperback Writer”.

I cut a branch off my pine tree last week but it doesn’t have enough scent so I dumped it yesterday. I could pick up a few feet of fresh garland if I were staying home, but the branch I trimmed stuck too far onto pool deck, anyway ;-)

Don’t know about elsewhere, but here in the Pine Tree State (Maine), we do not use pines for Christmas trees. They are typically some variety of fir.
